The generated data are provided on a Web server at the Business Location Center. Use of the Google Earth Web streaming functions enables the large volumes of data that make up the Berlin city model to be made available and visualized on demand.
The data remain the property of the State of Berlin and are not handed over to Google Earth.
A combination of modern encryption methods and Digital Rights Management (DRM) prevent the reconstruction of the source data and therefore afford maximum data protection.
The creation of the Google Earth model was mainly made possible by the use of technologies developed at the Hasso Plattner Institute in Potsdam and 3D Geo GmbH, a spin-off of the Hasso Plattner Institute.
